Since it is over 100 degrees today, I find it difficult to justify baking anything. But you can still make treats for the kids from your pantry! Pampered Chef consultants could use this as a demo recipe too if you are doing a children’s theme. It is super quick, easy and even children age 4 and up could help make it. Now, it isn’t the healthiest treat in the world… but with peanut butter and Cheerios I would put this one step above a brownie. We’re done with brownie posts right? 🙂
No Bake Cheerios Treats
adapted from my old Quick Cooking magazine
1/2 cup smooth/creamy peanut butter
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 cup Cheerios
1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1/2 Tbs. shortening
1. In large bowl (PC: batter bowl), mix together (PC: using Classic Scraper) the peanut butter, light corn syrup, and powdered sugar. Combine well. Stir in Cheerios.
2. Using a 2 Tbs (or medium scoop) scoop or using your hands, form 1.5″ balls.
3. In small microwavable bowl, melt semisweet chocolate chips and shortening. (Mix after 30 seconds, then 15 second increments).
4. Dip balls halfway into the chocolate and place on sheet of wax paper to set.
