Thanksgiving dinner will be at my house this year. So for any last minute planner people out there who needs ideas, here is my plan:
Monday: Thaw turkey in the fridge
Tuesday: Buy pre-made items like appetizers from Costco, peppermint bark, peppermint oreos (Still debating whether I’ll have time to make my own pumpkin pie), apple pie, Make Cinnamon Pinwheel cookies to freeze and later decorate with white drizzle
Wednesday: Make the vegetable broth and brine; Make chocolate mousse (using filling recipe); Brine turkey in evening; Make a chocolate cream pie??? Maybe? Or Lemon Meringue Pie…. I don’t want a lot of leftover desserts. Make Pumpkin Pie Filling
Thursday morning: Flip the bird (in the fridge!), Make Texas Roadhouse rolls and butter, Make iced tea; If the roll recipe is not a winner fallback on a sure fire roll recipe, Honey Wheat Rolls; Bake pumpkin pie
Thursday afternoon: Roast turkey, make stuffing from a box called Stovetop, have hubby make mashed potatoes, and the rest my mom is bringing!
**Update:** The Texas Roadhouse Rolls didn’t work out… but that was partly because I dumped the flour in too early and used my 1.5 cup measuring cup instead of my 1 cup measuring cup on accident. Needless to say the excess flour kept the dough from forming at all and using my good ol’ Honey Wheat Rolls recipe instead. Much less time consuming and easier.
