I needed a cajun seasoning for a recipe I made a while back, but I haven’t bought it in quite some time. So, I found this recipe for one and it was spot on. Plus, I try to turn the heat down a bit for the kids. My son loves the spicy salsa verde at Qdoba though! Here are a list of other successful seasonings I have used from my pantry. It’s funny …and sad … how much stuff you can make from a well-stocked pantry…
I keep my jars of apple butter and throw them in the dishwasher. Jars make great gift containers or for holding your spice mixes.
Cajun Seasoning
2 Tb. onion powder
2 Tb. garlic powder
2 Tb. dried oregano
2 Tb. dried basil
1 Tb. dried thyme
1 Tb. ground black pepper
1 Tb. ground white pepper or black pepper
3 tsp. cayenne pepper
5 Tb. paprika
4-5 Tb. seasoning salt (like Lawry’s)
Mix it up.
